What should this policy have paid you?
Work out the commission one line should carry — a percentage of premium, a flat fee per enrolment, or the published CMS amount for Medicare Advantage and Part D. Then type what the carrier actually paid and see the difference.
Fill in the fields above and the expected commission appears here.
One line at a time is slow. Check the whole statement.
Drop a carrier statement on the home page and every line is checked at once — spreadsheet or PDF, no sign-up, results in about a minute.
How insurance commission is worked out
Percentage of premium
Many life, annuity and Medicare Supplement contracts pay a percentage of premium. The trap is premium that changes: a rate increase or a face-amount change raises the premium but commission keeps paying on the old figure. Always use the rate in your own agreement.
Flat fee per member
ACA marketplace business is usually a set dollar amount per enrolled member per month, so the premium on the statement tells you nothing about whether the payment is right. Count the members, multiply by the fee.
CMS amounts on Medicare
CMS publishes annual Medicare Advantage and Part D compensation limits, with renewals generally half the initial amount and some state groups differing. Use this as a benchmark, then confirm the amount your contract says you should receive.
Typical rate ranges shown here are common market figures, not quotes — your own carrier or FMO agreement is the only rate that counts. Medicare figures come from the CMS published fair market value amounts. More on reading commission statements.
